A safari in Tsavo

Tsavo is one of our absolute favourite safari destinations in Kenya! ‘Tsavo’ meaning ‘slaughter’ in Akamba, is an area steeped in history, from the slave trade to the First World War and the infamous ‘Man Eaters of Tsavo’!

The vastness of the landscape is mesmerising, dotted with ancient rocky kopjes formed in age gone by! So unique to anywhere else in Kenya with gigantic baobab trees, roaming elephant herds & the distinctive red soil…and the heat!

Stop off at the majestic Tiva River provides a magical setting for seeking out big old elephant bulls. You can’t beat a bush picnic along the Galana River. We’ve lead a number of safaris down to Tsavo this year, ranging from 5* star luxury to self-catering stays to simple traditional camps on the river bank. We love the diversity, range of beauty and uniqueness of Tsavo. We simply cannot get enough!
